1201 K Street Lobby
Classic design meets optimal functionality
The owner of this iconic high-rise recognized that the ground floor lobby was underutilized and had greater potential.
CDG worked with client to identify specific issues and define a project scope. Accommodations for visitors and a central security desk were top priority, as well as resolving challenges to flooring maintenance created by frequent foot traffic between restaurants situated on each side of the space.
The design solution included poured terrazzo flooring due to its ease of maintenance and extreme durability & longevity. A custom-commissioned sculpture provided a stunning visual centerpiece while helping to direct traffic flow around the lobby instead of through it. The millwork security desk was designed for optimal functionality and furnishings were selected to compliment the dramatic structural architecture.
